bowmanville hospital rally - the faces of dissent

despite the rain
people came
as part of a local service restructuring manifesto
brought down by the Central East LHIN
and largely driven by the fiscally obtund
Lakeridge Health Corp.
-
mark my words friends
bad things - very bad things
the elderly know - they can feel it in their bones - like wet weather

why else would so many of them be out in the rain on a sunday

"i'm gald you came out" buddy says

"why the hell wouldn't i come out" buddy's buddy says

"they can't do this!!!"

so things got wound up rain or no

this local girl absolutely spanked the national anthem

it was a beautiful thing

until she forgot where she was at - just long enough to notice

after nailing a brilliantly soulful hillbilly burst on strong and free

i'm thinking we'll see her on canadian idol if we haven't already

then

the handsome and gallant leader of the revolucion

dr tony stone

told the masses that the ER closing is allegedly groundless hysteria

but he cautioned vigilance outlining that bowmanville memorial hospital is likely to lose many of the other services that support the ER rendering our local emerg to little more than a treat and transfer urgent-care-ish sort of deal

but the doors won't close

or will they

other speakers cautioned us to not trust the short sighted corporate swine puppets driving the decision making bus towards centralizing health care services

our healthcare system is suffering a malingering and chronic inefficiency ever since the harris government hacked it to bits and all but left it for dead

someone wants us to believe that pushing more specialized cases to over burdened centralized service providers will make things better - jimmy says that plan smells like more waiting, less service, and a systemic hemorrhaging of money away from our community

we learned our doctors and nurses think this is bad

so people signed the ontario health coalition's petition

young and old

and old

everyone signed the petition

so now community activists have the power of numbers to plan their next step

-

community activists

curiously enough

like my former public school principal

Mr John Reid (below right)

who

in his role as educator and disciplinarian

attempted to put the fear in me many times

trying to keep me in line with the the others

conditioning me to sit down and shut up

learning me

to be a good sheeple

like those who stayed home maybe

benign entities waiting to complain

once it's too late

-

the word for the day class is dissent
