high in dream park

blunts, blanket, burgundy wine, beautiful brainy babe, and the bard

shakespeare in the park

a night of

"tragical mirth"

front row center - beneath the stars - on the knotty blanket
close enough to have our wine annointed with glittery fairy dust

this contemporized version of midsummer's night dream

was brilliantly performed and interpreted

the entire theater roared with laughter over and over

as the play grabbed our attention

in ways that i'm sure would have pleased the playwright

and it never let go

frenzied and brilliant

subtle and clever

i've enjoyed many live performances

but this

without exception

i enjoyed more than of any of them

then as we lingered our way out of highpark

we met lysander and then titania and then bisby and bottom

casual conversation with a very personable enthusiastic

and talented cast

i expect to see them again here or there

i was hoping to see the blonde fairy

she used to play loonette from the big comfy couch

and something about loonette makes me

weird

but that truly is another story for another time
